Dishwasher
Maintenance Tips |
|
"But I thought I could use
liquid detergent in my dishwasher!"
- The biggest cause of
dishwasher leaks is caused by
accidentally putting in
laundry detergent instead of
dishwasher detergent.
- As with your washing machine,
use a good quality detergent to
eliminate residual build-up within
your dishwasher's components.
- To facilitate efficiency in
cleaning your dishes, make sure
that your water is hot before
turning on the unit. Letting your
water run in your sink for a few
seconds prior to turning on the
dishwasher is a good habit to get
into. Doing so will help get your
dishes cleaner because the
detergent dissolves quicker when
the cycle begins.
- Many of the newer dishwashers
on the market today actually
perform much better if your dishes
ARE NOT rinsed before running your
unit. The food soils actually
limit the alkalinity of the
washing solution and decreases the
possibility of cloudiness or
discoloration of your dishes and
glasses.
"I hear the humming but nothing is
happening!"
- This is a very common problem
with people that do not use their
dishwasher on a frequent basis.
This is usually known as freezing
up and many times can be fixed
yourself, however, we recommend
that you check with us first
before attempting any of the usual
methods of correction.
- If you are just now installing
a dishwasher or replacing one you
currently have, make sure and
inspect the installation
carefully. An improperly installed
dishwasher can be another cause
for leakage. Some things to check
are proper alignment within the
cabinet, securely fastened screws,
and correct drainage requirements.
- For a thorough analysis of
your dishwasher, or how we might
be able to extend it's life or
correct some current problems,
please call us.
